Client Expectations, New Client Intake & Salon Policies

At ThePawfectionist, we are committed to providing every pet with a safe, comfortable, and personalized grooming experience in a calm, cage-free environment. To help us maintain the highest level of care and scheduling efficiency for all of our furry guests, we kindly ask that clients review the following salon policies and expectations.

New Client Intake

For all first-time clients, we take time to learn about your pet’s grooming history, personality, health concerns, sensitivities, and any behavioral or mobility needs prior to beginning services. Please inform us of any medical conditions, allergies, anxiety, or special handling requirements so we can tailor the grooming experience to your dog’s individual comfort and safety.

Our goal is to build trust from the very first visit and create a positive grooming relationship for both you and your pet.

Pricing & Recommended Maintenance Schedule

Our pricing is based on pets maintained on a regular 4–6 week grooming schedule. Dogs scheduled beyond 7 weeks may require additional coat preparation, extra brushing, specialized handling, or extended grooming time and may be subject to additional charges.

Routine grooming is an important part of your dog’s overall health and well-being. Regular appointments help maintain healthy skin and coat condition, prevent matting, and allow us to monitor for any skin concerns or other issues that may need your attention.

Matted Coat Policy

For the comfort and well-being of your pet, severely matted coats may require shaving or a shorter haircut than originally requested. Dematting can be painful and stressful, so our groomers will always choose the safest and most humane option for your dog.

Additional charges may apply for dematting, excessive undercoat removal, or coats requiring significant extra time and labor.

Additional Charges

Additional grooming fees may be applied when extra time, labor, or special care is required, including but not limited to:

• Dematting or heavily impacted coats
• Dogs requiring special handling or extended behavioral support
• Severe coat condition or excessive undercoat removal
• Flea treatment or sanitation needs
• Late pick-ups or missed appointments

We always strive to communicate any significant additional grooming needs whenever possible.

Late Pick-Up Policy

We provide an estimated completion time for every appointment and will notify you as soon as your pet is ready for pick-up. Because our cage-free salon space must remain available for incoming appointments, we kindly ask that pets be picked up within one hour of notification.

Dogs picked up more than one hour after completion may be subject to a daycare fee of $10 per 15 minutes.

Late Arrival Policy

To provide start-to-finish appointments and avoid pets spending unnecessary hours in the salon, timely arrivals are extremely important. Pets arriving more than 10 minutes past their scheduled appointment time may need to be rescheduled and may be considered a missed appointment.

Cancellation & Missed Appointment Policy

We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any appointment cancellations or scheduling changes.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, missed appointments, or no-shows will incur the following fees:

• First offense: 50% of the estimated grooming cost
• Second and future offenses: 100% of the estimated grooming cost

These policies help us protect our groomers’ time and continue offering quality appointment availability for all clients.

Health & Safety Notice

While every precaution is taken to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort, grooming may occasionally reveal pre-existing skin conditions, lumps, sores, irritations, ear issues, or other health concerns that were not visible prior to service. If we observe anything requiring your attention, we will notify you.

In the event of an emergency, ThePawfectionist will make every reasonable effort to contact you and seek appropriate veterinary care if necessary.

Our Commitment

At ThePawfectionist, every pet is treated with patience, compassion, and individualized care. Our mission is to create a grooming experience that is safe, stress-free, and enjoyable while helping your dog look and feel their absolute best.

Thank you for trusting us with your furry family member.
